Bowl of Cherries, A : A Memoir
Published in Paperback by PublishAmerica, Inc. (04 November, 2002)
Author: Tekla Dennison Miller
Average review score:

Warm Your Heart, Stiffen Your Spine
Look no further than A Bowl of Cherries if you want to read a compelling story about victory over some of the toughest circumstances imaginable. More happened in Tekla Miller's young life than one would think possible outside of a Hollywood scriptwriter's imagination: her father's injury in a train wreck and his subsequent death, discovery of her mother's suicide, abuse by her brother-in-law, rape, extreme poverty, flight, fire and third-degree burns, deprivation. These difficulties might have made Tekla Miller bitter and hard. Instead, with the help of her equally remarkable sister Alyce, Tekla learned how to use her personal tragedies like refining fire, and emerged strong, certainly defiant, immensely capable, happy, and with a great sense of humor intact.

In recounting her story, Ms. Miller leavens the dramatic saga of her teen years with funny moments (check out driving lessons, Tekla-style, and you'll never want your own child behind the wheel of a car!), always showing herself to be quick-witted and up to the task of coping with whatever challenges come her way. Her sister, too, showed great ingenuity in creating a life for Tekla and her own children that approximated normal, while getting her own college degree and ensuring Tekla did as well--all during an era when women were facing great odds against independence. This memoir celebrates the extraordinary love between two sisters and the great triumph possible in even the most difficult life. This is truly a book to add courage and heart to every reader.

Brain Bafflers
Published in Hardcover by Sterling Publications (December, 1993)
Authors: Robert Steinwachs and Myron Miller
Average review score:

A fun little book!
This is a fun book to take on a car trip. It has some puzzles that involve math (you know- car A leaves going 60 mph, car B leaves going 30 mph, that sort of thing). Some don't involve math (my personal favorite) such as "name 10 cities with over 1 million people each that start with the letter M (one city per country)".

if you like this sort of thing, you will enjoy the book.

Breaking 90 With Johnny Miller
Published in Hardcover by Callaway Editions (October, 2000)
Author: Johnny Miller
Average review score:

Nice book but not a perfect one
To Breaking 90, someone may expect some swing drills especially from Johnny Miller but sorry, it doesn't.

The books itself is target to the one those already know how to hit the ball well. It will give you the suggestion, information and knowledge on how to play "Good golf" but not how to do "Good Swing"

The first section, "Johnny Miller's Better Golf" is the most valuable section for me. Its give you a "better" idea on how to play and how to practice. Other sections later in the book, are just "experience sharing" section which is nice to read but may be not good enough to remember.

Overall, if you are a good golfer and would like to get someting from the expert to make you even better. This book is the good one. But if you still fighting with your swing flaw, try another one.

Breaking Open the Gospel of Matthew: The Sermon on the Mount (Breaking Open the Gospels Series ; Vol. 4)
Published in Paperback by St Anthony Messenger Press (May, 1998)
Authors: Gerard P. Weber and Robert L. Miller
Average review score:

Gospel Truth
Breaking Open the Gospel of Mathhew ia an outstanding addition to any library. This book focuses on the Gospel of Matthew in a way that just about anyone can understand. It allows one to act as if they are conducting an interview with Matthew and questioning his reasons for writing things and what the Beatitudes really mean. This book spoke to my spiritualy deprived soul and brought out all the questions that I had about his Gospel. I also enjoyed the other three books in this series. I purchase the group to give as gifts to all my family and friends. This one is a must!

Average review score:

Budgeting : formulation and execution
Exceptionally useful manual for all who deals with local government budget management. This collection of discussions can be used as a basic source on the formulation and execution of the annual budget. This book equally addresses the needs of public administration students, instructors and practicing public financial managers. This easy-to-use guide is presented in two parts: part 1 focuses on budget development, opening with readings designed to place the process of budgeting in the context of political economy, offering a review of budget setting, revenues and expenditures ; in the second part the authors discuss budget execution, cash and bebt management, controls (i.e. established accounting procedures), reporting practices, and acountability devices (auditing). Both parts introduce the reader to the variety of skills, perspectives, and concepts critical to budget management. Very reliable source of information about traditional practices and latest developments in the field of budgeting at affordable price.

Best Children's book for my child this year
This was the book my daughter Elise enjoyed the most in her 4th grade class. A delightful account of how women shaped the country's destiny as our nation moved westward. I would highly recommend it for any young adult boy and girl who is interested in our past
